I grew up with a “magician” father in a “dark room”.Inside the darkroom, I saw countless times, familiar landscapes and faces magically appear in front of me with the same enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

In a small remote place like Leros, the photographer of the island holds a special place in every important moment of the life of its inhabitants. He is always present and records what is happening, giving them a place in history.<\/p>\n

I learned my first “magic trick” with my father Savvas and my uncle Fotis Filakouris. I took my first wedding photo when I was just 16 years old. With time and experience, came the knowledge that the magic of the darkroom is potentially present in every photograph that has managed to capture and evoke emotions. But knowledge is like a half-full glass. No matter how much you taste, there is always something new that you want to add to your glass.<\/p>\n

That is why at Foto Filakouri we are constantly enriching our potential with new tools and ideas according to the developments and trends of the time. Our love for the new, goes hand in hand with our vision to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the history of this island. With the help of technology, with passion, patience and perseverance we proceed to the digitization and restoration of our photographic archive which is an integral part of our cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
